A cheap way to get to Kansas City is via Greyhound bus or another coach service. Bus services come and go from a number of nearby towns and cities as well as from destinations farther afield. A trip from Chicago takes approximately 13 hours by bus, while a trip from St. Louis takes roughly 5 hours. Amtrak also operates two services to and from Kansas City, with one service operating between Kansas City and Chicago and the other service via a host of other states including California, Arizona, Illinois and Iowa.

Kansas City International Airport is situated less than 20 miles from the city center. It offers both international and domestic flights to many destinations and provides shuttle bus services and taxi service to and from the city.
